Tea Class: Raw Pu’er — Yiwu Region (English)

Join us for a focused introduction to Raw Pu’er (Sheng Pu’er) from the renowned Yiwu region in Yunnan, one of the most celebrated origins of pu’er tea.

In this class, we’ll explore what makes Yiwu teas so distinctive — from their historical importance along the ancient tea trade routes to their elegant, layered flavor profile. We’ll discuss the natural processing of raw pu’er, how it differs from ripe pu’er, and how time and aging gradually transform its character.

You’ll learn about the key features often associated with Yiwu teas, including their gentle strength, floral sweetness, soft texture, and lingering aftertaste. We’ll also introduce the idea of terroir in pu’er tea and how different mountains and villages influence flavor.

The class concludes with a guided tasting of several Yiwu raw pu’er teas, helping you experience firsthand the graceful and evolving nature of this classic tea style.
