2026 Wuyi Mountain Tea Study Tour

November 13–18, 2026 | 6 Days / 5 Nights

Join us for an immersive tea study tour in Wuyi Mountain, Fujian, China, the birthplace of some of China’s most renowned rock teas. Through tea mountain visits, guided tastings, hands-on learning, tea-making demonstrations, and cultural experiences, participants will explore the connection between tea varieties, terroir, craftsmanship, and tea culture.

Day 1 | November 13

Arrive in Wuyi Mountain · Meet Through Tea

Morning: Participants arrive in Wuyi Mountain.
Afternoon: Group check-in and opening tea gathering.
Evening: Welcome dinner.

Day 2 | November 14

Explore the Tea Mountains · Discover the Tea-Growing Regions

Morning: Visit the Da Hong Pao Scenic Area, Jiulongke (Nine Dragon Nest), and the “Rock Bone & Floral Fragrance” Walking Trail, a scenic route through different tea-variety cultivation areas. Learn about tea plants and the natural environment of Wuyi Mountain’s tea-growing regions.

Afternoon: Visit a tea garden or tea artisan’s studio to learn about tea garden management and taste a selection of teas.

Evening: Share observations from the tea mountains and discuss topics for further study.

Day 3 | November 15

Wuyi Rock Tea · Tea & Mountain Landscapes

Morning: Immersive Wuyi Rock Tea Course I

• Understanding tea varieties and tea-growing regions
• Comparative tasting of tea varieties, including Shui Xian and Rou Gui
• Small-group tea brewing practice

Afternoon: Bamboo rafting on the Jiuqu (Nine-Bend) Stream, experiencing the landscapes of Wuyi Mountain and their connection to tea culture.

Evening: Free time and review of study notes.

Day 4 | November 16

Tea-Making Craftsmanship · Hands-On Experience

Morning: Visit the Yanba Tea Factory to learn about Wuyi Rock Tea production and engage with tea makers.

Afternoon: Immersive Wuyi Rock Tea Course II

• Understanding roasting techniques
• Hands-on sorting and sieving experience
• Tea-making demonstrations
• Brewing experiments

Evening: Attend the outdoor performance Impression Da Hong Pao.

Day 5 | November 17

Tracing the Origins · Exploring Black Tea

Morning: Travel to the Tongmu Pass tea-growing region, the historic origin of Lapsang Souchong (Zhengshan Xiaozhong) and Jin Jun Mei. Learn about the region’s tea-growing ecosystem.

Afternoon: Visit a tea company or tea artisan’s studio to learn about black tea production and participate in a focused tasting session before returning to Wuyi Mountain.

Evening: Farewell dinner and program review.

Day 6 | November 18

Closing · Departure

Morning: Breakfast, final Q&A and discussion, group photo, and check-out.

Afternoon: Closing session. Participants depart according to their individual travel schedules.

Who Can Join:
Open exclusively to students of the North American Tea Academy.

Program Fee:
$980 USD per person. Registration closes on October 10th.

The program fee includes:

Not Included:
Transportation to and from Wuyi Mountain must be arranged independently by each participant.
