Hi tea friends!

Curious about Chinese tea but not sure where to begin?

Join us for a beginner-friendly introduction to the world of Chinese tea — the perfect starting point for anyone looking to build a deeper understanding of tea culture, tea styles, and the art of Gongfucha.

In this class, we’ll begin with a short history of Chinese tea, tracing its cultural roots and exploring how tea has evolved over thousands of years into one of the world’s richest traditions.

We’ll then introduce the six major types of Chinese tea — green, white, yellow, oolong, black, and dark tea — and explore what makes each category unique. You’ll learn how processing methods shape flavor, aroma, oxidation level, and character, giving you a clear framework for understanding and navigating Chinese tea.

The class will also include Gongfucha 101, an introduction to the essential tools, techniques, and philosophy behind this traditional style of tea preparation. We’ll walk through the fundamentals of brewing so you can make the tea more enjoyable.

Throughout the session, you’ll taste a selection of representative teas from different categories, giving you the opportunity to experience firsthand the diversity and beauty of Chinese tea.

Whether you’re completely new to tea or looking to deepen your foundation, this class offers an excellent gateway into the world of Chinese tea.
