This Bai Hua Tan Ancient-Tree Raw Pu-erh is a special 2026 TEAFAIRY custom release.

this tea was personally selected during my tea mountain study trip to Yunnan in April 2026. I traveled to the tea-growing region, tasted teas at their source, and selected the ancient-tree material that best represented the character we wanted to share.

We then pressed the tea into our signature 8g mini tea cakes—a simple, convenient format designed to make exploring fine Pu-erh easier.

Hidden Deep in the Forests of Yiwu

Bai Hua Tan is a distinctive small-production tea origin within the Yiwu tea region of Xishuangbanna, Yunnan.

The ancient tea trees grow deep among forests, mountain valleys, and streams, surrounded by dense natural vegetation. Reaching some of these remote tea-growing areas is still difficult, requiring travel along mountain paths and through rugged forest terrain.

From reaching the tea trees and hand-picking the fresh leaves to carrying the harvest out of the mountains, producing tea here requires considerably more effort than in easily accessible tea gardens.

It gives every cup from Bai Hua Tan a deeper sense of place.

Spring in Bai Hua Tan is especially beautiful.

Wildflowers bloom throughout the mountains, the forest vegetation becomes lush and abundant, and streams flow through the valleys. Ancient tea trees grow within this rich and largely natural mountain environment.

Fittingly, teas from Bai Hua Tan are also known for their expressive floral fragrance, natural honeyed sweetness, and refined, silky texture.

Its poetic name—Bai Hua Tan, “Hundred Flowers Pond”—seems almost naturally connected to the character of the tea itself:

Some Pu-erh teas are remembered first for their power.

Bai Hua Tan is remembered for its fragrance, sweetness, and refinement.

Unwrap an 8g mini cake and add hot water. The liquor develops into a clear, luminous golden color.

As the steam rises, an elegant floral fragrance begins to unfold, followed gradually by the honeyed aroma and natural sweetness so appealing in Yiwu teas.

On the palate, the tea is smooth, delicate, and beautifully rounded.

Its bitterness and astringency are relatively restrained rather than aggressive. Returning sweetness develops naturally, accompanied by refreshing salivation and a lingering floral-honey finish that remains in the mouth after each sip.

The tea comes from Yunnan, while our story continues in Seattle.

Each 8g mini cake features a wrapper inspired by Seattle landmarks, representing the city TEAFAIRY calls home and tracing the journey of tea from the mountains of Yunnan to the Pacific Northwest.

For the outer packaging, we chose to preserve a traditional touch with natural bamboo tubes.

Each bamboo tube contains 7 individually wrapped 8g mini cakes, for a total net weight of 56g.

The natural simplicity of bamboo complements the compact tea cakes beautifully—bringing together the traditions of Yunnan tea with the contemporary spirit of TEAFAIRY in Seattle.
